  • Received a total of nine letters playing on the College’s baseball, basketball, and football teams.
  • “Bill was an outstanding pitcher possession a big strikeout curve ball,” said his Rollins coach, Jack McDowall. “As an end in football he was an excellent blocker and pass receiver. “
  • After graduation he signed a professional baseball contract with the Washington Senators.
  • Although his career as a professional player was short, ending with his enlistment in the Navy during World War II, he returned to the sport after the war as a coach at Centre College and Ohio Wesleyan University.
