Played only two seasons at Rollins, batting .400 and fielding at .981 in ’35 and batting .360 in ’36.
Played end on the ’35 football team, receiving All-State honors
Signed a professional baseball contract in 1936 with the New York Yankees
He made it to the big league team in 1942 and 1944, and went on to an outstanding 20-year career in professional baseball.
