Greetings #TARnation! Whether you're on a sandy Caribbean beach or back home in the frigid north, I hope you are enjoying your spring break. Don't forget to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated! Here's the latest results for Tars athletics:Â
- A huge shoutout to our swimmers who made a splash at the NCAA National Championship in Evansville, Indiana last week. The men's 800 freestyle relay took home 8th place, earning 1st Team All-American honors for Luke Dinges, William Slowey, Trey Carter, and Seth Basinger. The quartet set a new school record (6:26.44), giving the Tars their highest finish in the event in program history. Slowey (100 breaststroke) and Dinges (100 butterfly, 200 backstroke) also set new program standards in individual competition. On the women's side, Taiylor Tegler grabbed a second-team All-American nod with her school-record time of 1:01.95 in the 100 breaststroke. Another incredible season in the books for Tars swimming, congrats everyone!Â
- Men's lacrosse powered through their trip to Missouri, taking down a pair of Top 10 opponents. On Saturday, the Tars faced #5 Lewis and went to overtime. In the extra frame, Nate Paulo found Chad Bulera for the game-winner. Paulo and Bulera combined for five goals and two assists in the match. On Monday, #7 Maryville jumped ahead 4-0 in the first quarter before Rollins rallied with six unanswered goals as they hung on for the 11-9 dub. Aaron Williams led the Tars with a hat trick and added an assist as well. Brady Greco added his third SSC Specialist of the Week award to his season resume as well after winning 14 of 22 faceoffs against Lewis.Â
- Women's lacrosse took home their sixth win in a row following a 17-15 W over Grand Valley State at home on Thursday. Molly Mendes found the net four times, while Delaney Hudson added a hat trick with three goals. Ten different Tars scored in this one, giving Rollins their ninth consecutive game with at least twelve goals scored.Â
- Men's tennis was nearly perfect in their three matches last week, defeating Tuskegee (4-0), Middle Georgia (4-1), and #4 Wayne State (4-0). Mo Anterist won all three of his matches in straight sets, improving his overall record on the year to 9-1. Five of the seven athletes who have played a singles match for the Tars this season have only one loss on their record.Â
- Baseball saw their 14-game winning streak come to an end, but still managed to win the series, two games to one, over Embry-Riddle. Joey Rubin was locked in all week, hitting .467 with an OPS of over 1.400 that included two home runs and four RBI from the leadoff spot. He was rewarded with the SSC Player fo the Week award for the third time in his career. The Tars are making waves across the country as the national ABCA coaches poll moved them all the way up to #7 in the rankings.Â
- Softball found similar success against Embry-Riddle, winning their series two games to one as well. Claire Long drove in five runs in three games, helped by a pair of doubles while bringing her season average up from .293 to .319. Reese Twiggs stepped in the circle twice, allowing just three earned runs across 13.2 innings. Camila Leon-Blanco added another complete game to her season resume on Saturday, tossing 146 pitches in game one of the doubleheader.Â
- Sailing hosted the Bud Morrow Open Team Race on the waters of Lake Virginia, taking fourth and seventh place out of nine groups that included Charleston, Jacksonville, and Miami. Milo Fleming, Matthew Sexton, and Noah Belson all saw time as skipper in the championship round.Â
- Women's tennis went 2-1 in their action last week. Wednesday's match saw a 4-2 win over Tuskegee with Nisan Can leading the way after a 6-3, 6-0 win from line one. Alyssa Novoa was the standout in Saturday's battle with Middle Georgia as she went 6-0, 6-1 from line two. The Tars ended the week with a tough matchup against reigning national champion Barry. However, Novoa impressed again, taking the feature court with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.Â
- Women's golf hosted the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational at Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes in Longwood. Eight of the nine teams competing were ranked in the Top 27 of the Clippd national poll. The Tars took third place, led by freshman Addy Vogt's fifth-place finish. Her 73 (+1) was the second-best round among the entire field on Tuesday.
- Men's golf traveled to Milledgeville, Georgia to play in the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College. Mother nature could not have been more of a pest, postponing the first round and canceling the third. In the 36-hole event, Rollins finished in ninth place as Sean Dobson had the top score for the Tars, finishing 12th with a 141 (+1).Â
- Rowing traveled to DeLand for the Stetson showdown on Saturday, but results have not yet been posted.
- #19 Men's lacrosse (4-3) is the featured event of the week as they will celebrate their senior class before Saturday's SSC game against Lynn (2-3). The Tars are winners of three straight, and will look to continue their recent success against the Knights; Rollins has won five of the last six matchups. Expect a big crowd and beautiful weather as a dozen senior Tars are recognized prior to faceoff.Â
- Softball (16-6) gets the week started with a doubleheader at Valdosta State (13-11), and then a three-game set against Nova Southeastern (16-15) in Ft. Lauderdale. The Tars haven't beaten Valdosta State since 2016, and were swept in three games versus the Sharks last season. Sound like a great week for revenge!
- #14 Women's lacrosse (8-1) is in the midst of a stretch going against six ranked teams in a row. It all starts today at 4pm against #21 St. Anselm, followed by a Tuesday tussle at #6 Embry-Riddle. The Tars have the most wins of anyone in the SSC, and boast the second-most goals scored (142).Â
- Women's tennis (9-4) is headed to South Florida for a road match against St. Thomas on Thursday. This game was originally scheduled for February 1, but weather forced the change. Rollins is 3-0 all-time against the Bobcats.Â
- #15 Men's tennis (9-1) is hosting Emporia State on Thursday from the Tennis & Golf Center on campus. Their Sunday match against Millenia Atlantic has been forfeited by the visitors, so that will be one of the easier wins in the career of head coach Jay Friedman. Then, on Monday, the Tars will host the Brown University Bears in a scrimmage. Prior to his time with the Tars, Coach Friedman was an assistant coach with Brown.Â
- #7 Baseball (17-5) is on the road for only the third time this season as they had to Ft. Lauderdale to battle the Nova Southeastern Sharks (10-11). Aside from Tampa, Rollins is the only other team in the SSC to rank in the Top 5 for both offense and pitching. Rollins has won five straight vs. the Sharks, and will look to continue that streak as they garner national attention.Â
- Rowing is on the road, headed for Gainesville, Georgia to take part in the 5th Annual John Ferris Regatta at Lake Lanier Olympic Park. Last year at the event, the men's rowing team walked away with four medals in the 15-team field.Â
- Sailing is headed up I-95 to Jacksonville to compete in the St. John's Open Team Race.Â
- #23 Men's golf wraps up the teams in action as they follow the trend of heading to Nova Southeastern. The Tars will take part in the Shark Inivtational at Grande Oakes Country Club in Davie, Florida.Â
We are just over a week away from the 2026 Rollins Sports Hall of Fame Ceremony. The annual event kicks off alumni weekend, and celebrates some of the most important figures in the histroy of the athletic department.Â
