Greetings #TARnation! Hopefully you made it out to some of our home events last week, but if you didn't, I'm here to help catch you up!
- Baseball had the weekend off, but snuck in a game yesterday against Concordia St. Paul. The Tars scored four in the first inning and held on for a 5-2 victory, their 13th win in a row. The highlight of the day came in the fifth inning when Jimmy Thies, Joey Rubin, and Connor O'Sullivan turned a triple play! Also, in Tuesday's latest coaches poll, the Tars were moved all the way up to #10 in the country!
- Men's tennis had a strong showing in their three matches last week. They started with a 5-0 sweep of Charleston on Thursday, and then came up just short against #1 Barry, losing 4-3 to the reigning national champions. The Tars bounced back on Monday with an impressive 5-2 win over D-I Bucknell. This morning, Rollins was bumped up to #15 in the national ITA poll. Also, freshman Lawson Prather earned the SSC Player of the Week award, which included a  6-4, 6-4 win over Barry's Yan Kodjoed, the #1 ranked singles player in the country!
- Women's lacrosse picked up two wins in Georgia. On Friday, they dominated Alabama Hunstville to the tune of 15-6. Two days later, it was a 19-13 victory over Young Harris. Holyn Trautwein was a beast in the middle, winning 19 draw controls in the two games. Fiona Rizzo added three goals vs. the Chargers and a goal with two helpers against the Mountain Lions.Â
- Softball took home a whopping five wins in four days to bolster their season resume. Friday saw the Tars defeat Tiffin 4-1 and Assumption 5-4. They played Assumption again on Saturday, and captured that one 7-4. Then on Monday, it was a home twinbill against the Caldwell Bears that resulted in 8-1 and 8-4 victories. Reese Twiggs, Addison Crawford, and Camila Leon-Blanco all tossed complete games, while Madi Carr dropped two home runs, giving her a team-high five on the season.Â
- Men's lacrosse traveled to Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday and handled business with a  13-6 win. Nate Paulo was dialed, scoring five times and adding a pair of assists as well as four groundballs, helping him earn his second SSC Player of the Week award of the year.Â
- Men's golf took part in the Southeastern Intercollegiate at Kinderlou Forest Country Club, hosted by Valdosta State. The Tars took 6th place in the 16 team field, and saw senior Andrew Clark bang a hole-in-one during the second round. Clarence Chapman III was the top individual for Rollins, finishing 15th in the 88 player field at three-under.Â
- Sailing had two events going on. The headliner was the Jen Harris Women's Team Race, hosted by the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Fifteen of the countries top programs took part, including seven ranked in the Top 15 nationally. The Tars put up a good fight against elite competition, including wins against Hobart & William Smith as well as Navy. Down in Gainesville, Rollins finished third of ten teams in the Old Florida Trophy.Â
- Women's tennis dropped a pair of matches against Charleston on Thursday and St. Thomas (MN) on Friday. After a couple days to regroup, the Tars bounced back for a convincing 6-1 win over D'Youville at home. Nisan Can suffered her first singles loss of the season, but still leads Rollins with a 9-1 record.Â
- Rowing hosted both men and women's teams at the annual Rollins Invitational on Lake Maitland. The men's Novice 4+ captured their second gold medal in as many weeks with an impressive showing of 7:44.1, defeating Embry-Riddle and Florida. They also added four second-place finishes. The women were competing against the same schools, plus Barry, in their competition. They did not capture any gold, but had a number of runner-up finishes to take as momentum into next week's events.Â
- A handful of swimmers are in Evansville, Indiana for the NCAA D-II National Championship. Things got underway last night with the Men's 800 free relay that saw Trey Carter, Seth Basinger, Luke Dinges, and William Slowey take 8th place with a school record time of 6:26.44. There is plenty more action to come over the next five days. We will have daily updates posted on the front page of RollinsSports.com
- Both tennis teams continue their jam-packed March slate with three more matches per squad. The women (7-3) have Tuskegee on Wednesday, Middle Georgia on Saturday, and a big one at #2 Barry on Tuesday. The men (7-1), who moved up to #15 in today's national poll, also have Tuskegee and Middle Georgia, but will mix it up with a home match against #4 Wayne State on Tuesday. Rollins and Wayne State have played every year since 2014, with the Tars holding a 11-2 all-time record vs. the Warriors.Â
- #14Â Women's lacrosse (7-1)Â has a big home game against #20 Grand Valley State on Thursday before earning a well-deserved week off. Rollins is 2-0 all-time vs GVSU, with the last game coming in 2023, a 15-11 Tars win. Â
- Baseball (15-4) will have their third SSC series of the year at home this weekend against Embry-Riddle. We already talked about the #10 Tars 13-game winning streak, but the Eagles are also cooking, winners of six in a row. The Tars swept the Eagles last season, and will look to continue their elite level of play. Once that series wraps up on Sunday, Rollins will host Northern State on Monday before heading to Palm Beach Atlantic for a non-SSC matchup on Tuesday.Â
- Softball (14-5) has seven wins in a row, and will be heading to Daytona to take on Embry-Riddle with one game on Friday and two on Saturday. Rollins is 5-0 on the road this season, and have won four of the last six vs. ERAUÂ over the last two seasons. Brianna Perantoni (.435, 8th) and Rachel Matthiesen (.421, 12th) both rank near the top of the SSC in batting average, but the Eagles have a dynamic duo of their own in Kendall Wilkie (.441, 7th) and Emma Wood (.423, 11th).Â
- Rowing is on the road for the remainder of the year, and will head to DeLand on Saturday for the Stetson Showcase. The marquee event features teams from D-I, D-II, and D-III with seven total schools hitting the water. Â
- Sailing is hosting the annual Bud Morrow Team Race here in town, taking place on Lake Virginia behind campus.
- Men's lacrosse (2-3) has a tough road trip on deck as they travel to Missouri to face #5 Lewis and #7 Maryville over the span of three days. The Tars have never seen the Flyers on the field, and lost to the Saints 16-9 last year in the only matchup between the two programs. Despite their record, the Tars have outscored their opponents this season 59-51, and will need some of that offensive prowess this weekend to jump back into the national poll.Â
- #22 Men's golf is headed to Georgia for the second straight week, this time to the booming metropolis of Milledgeville to take part in the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Georgia College. They will look to improve on their 13th-place finish in last year's event at Cuscowilla Country Club.Â
- #20 Women's golf will play host to eight teams at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational, taking place at Alaqua Lakes in Lake Mary. It will be three weeks since the Tars have seen the course in competition, so they will be well-rested and ready to go! Seven of the nine teams competing are in the Top 25 national poll.Â
