MELBOURNE, Fla. (August 15, 2024) - The Sunshine State Conference announced the results of the 2024 women's soccer preseason coaches poll with Embry-Riddle chosen to take the top spot, and the Rollins Tars to finish fourth.
The Eagles received 97 points and seven first-place votes. The battle for second was tight between Nova Southeastern (86 points, one FPV) and Florida Tech (85 points, 3 FPV). The aforementioned Tars were fourth, followed by Eckerd, Florida Southern, Tampa, Lynn, Saint Leo, Barry, and Palm Beach Atlantic.
Rollins finished 9-7-3 last season, earning a bid in the NCAA South Regional where they were defeated by Florida Tech. The Tars averaged 1.58 goals per contest last season, good for fifth in the conference. Leading the way was 2nd Team All-American
Kayla Park, who returns for her final season in 2024 after scoring eleven goals and adding eight assists last year. The Tars next three leading scorers with four goals each ... Bri Drayton,
Lexie Cooper, and
Ryland McGratty ... all return this season as well.
On the defensive end, sophomore
Lauren Mehos is slated to return to goal after carding six clean sheets and a 1.42 GAA in her freshman campaign.
The Tars open their season at home on Thursday, September 5th with a match against Tiffin University at 7:00 pm.
