Tars Open Spring at World Golf Invitational

The Tars sit second after the first 18 holes of the World Golf Invitational at Slammer and Squire Golf Club

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (February 7, 2022) – The Tars sit second after the first 18 holes of the World Golf Invitational at Slammer and Squire Golf Club.  A trio of Tars are tied for eighth at one over par.

The Tars shot a seven over, 295, to earn their second place standing.  Rollins is five strokes behind the leaders, Nova Southeastern, who pace the field with a combined score of two over, 290.  The Tars sit just ahead of third place Saint Leo, who trail Rollins by one stroke, at eight over.  Limestone, at 11-over, and Tampa, at 13-over, round out the top five.

Carla Alverez Perez, Elizabeth Kondal, and Katharina Hesse each carded a one over, 73, to sit as part of a five way tie for eighth position.  Vee Thiara is tied for 25th place after shooting a four-over, 76, in the opening round.  Jennifer Jung completes the Tars lineup with a six over score through 18 holes.
 
Hanna Ahlander of Nova Southeastern leads the pack at two under par, shooting a 70 to open the event.  Limestone's Ebba Hellman sits alone in second with a one under, 71.  Five golfers are even in third position after tallying even par opening rounds.

The Tars will return to Slammer and Squire tomorrow, Tuesday, February 8, for the final round of the World Golf Invitational.
