Rollins Mourns the Passing of Glenn Wilkes Sr.

Rollins Athletics joins the entire basketball world in mourning the passing of the legendary Dr. Glenn Wilkes.  Wilkes served as the Head Coach of the Stetson Hatters for 36 seasons, and is the father of long-time Rollins women's basketball coach Glenn Wilkes Jr.
 
Following a Hall of Fame playing career at Mercer, Wilkes joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  After leaving the force, his first coaching job was at Brewton Parker Junior College, where he was at the helm for five years before making the move to Deland.  During his nearly four decades with the Hatters Wilkes revolutionized basketball, and worked with some of the game's most prolific names.  Stetson basketball currently play on the 'Glenn Wilkes Court' in the Edmunds Center.
 
After leaving Stetson, Wilkes served as a scout for Los Angeles Lakers, served as an assistant director at Michael Jordan's basketball camps, and helped in the operations of World Class Basketball, a company facilitated overseas trips for college basketball teams, and hosted Tournaments, including the Florida Sunshine Classic that occurred annually inside the Alfond Sports Center.
 
Wilkes has authored a number of books on basketball, and worked with some of games all-time great players and coaches.  His knowledge and influence earned him the name the 'Godfather of Florida Basketball.'
 
Glenn Wilkes is survived by his wife Jan, and their six children, Glenn, Jr., Scott, Tom, Rob, Tarra, and Angel.
