Records Broken and NCAA Standards Met on Day Four of SSC Swim Championships

OCALA, Fla. — Rollins Swimming delivered a record-setting performance Saturday evening at the Sunshine State Conference Championships, producing five NCAA Division II B-cut swims and four new program records as the Tars continued their championship push.

Senior Luke Dinges once again led the way for Rollins, capturing the conference title in the 200 butterfly with a school-record time of 1:43.96, an NCAA B-cut qualifying mark. Dinges split 24.00 / 49.82 / 1:17.32 / 1:43.96 to secure 20 team points coming off his record-setting swim in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 49.78 to reset the program standard and earn an additional B-cut in last night's leg of the 400 medley relay.

The women's breaststroke group delivered a strong championship showing, highlighted by Taiylor Tegler, who finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.21, an NCAA B-cut time that also established a new school record. Freshman Alexa Kwarcinski added an eighth-place finish in the event with a time of 1:03.55, also meeting the NCAA B standard to give Rollins a pair of qualifying swims in the championship final.

On the men's side, senior William Slowey continued his decorated championship run with a runner-up finish in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 53.18, an NCAA B-cut, and a new program record.

The distance group added another qualifying performance, as sophomore Carter Kegle posted a B-cut swim in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 4:30.75 to score in the championship final.

Rollins added additional points across the board, including scoring swims from Julianne Armstrong (2:05.54, 200 fly), Melanie Angelov (2:08.77, 200 fly), and the women's 200 freestyle relay, where the A squad of Abby Jessup, Dylan Beeson, Gardner Viney, and Kwarcinski finished fifth in 1:35.28. The men closed the evening with a sixth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, as Sebastian Lopez, Ricky Riley, Trey Carter, and Cooper Wiese combined for a 1:22.21 performance.

Through four days of competition, Rollins sits fifth on the women's side with 198 points and sixth on the men's side with 254.5 points heading into the final day of competition.

The Tars return Sunday for the final day of the championships, starting with the women's 100 free prelims at 10 a.m.
