WINTER PARK, Fla. — Rollins Swimming returned home to the Alfond Pool on Friday afternoon, hosting Lynn in a Sunshine State Conference dual. The Fighting Knights took the women's meet, 168–89, while the Tars earned the team victory on the men's side, 152–110.
The meet opened with the 200 medley relays, where the Rollins men set the tone early. The quartet of
Luke Dinges,
William Slowey,
Wade Chandgie, and
Sebastian Lopez powered to a first-place finish in 1:28.97. On the women's side, Rollins placed third and fourth, led by the A relay of
Holly Hirsch,
Taiylor Tegler,
Melanie Angelov, and
Abby Jessup.
In the distance events,
Andrew Boles led the men with a third-place finish in the 1000 freestyle (9:59.08), followed closely by
Keanu Garnier-Chan in fourth. The women were paced by
Leah Fonnotto, who finished third in the 1000 free (11:22.52).
Rollins collected multiple top finishes in the 200 freestyle.
Carter Kegle led the men with a runner-up finish in 1:41.51, while
Wade Chandgie and
Cooper Wiese followed close behind in third and fourth. On the women's side,
Julianne Armstrong placed second in 1:54.95.
Nicholas Bonta paced the men with a third-place finish in the 100 back (51.94), followed by Matt Mack in fourth. On the women's side,
Elliot Fox finished runner-up in the 100 back (1:01.75).
In the breaststroke, Slowey earned a win in the men's 100 breast (54.46), while
Corbin Songer and
Neimantas Zonys followed in second and third with times of 58.91 and 59.02, respectively.
Alexa Kwarcinski highlighted the women's side with a victory in the 100 breast (1:03.87), while Katherin Wade added a fourth-place finish. Tegler later added another win for Rollins in the women's 200 breast (2:19.69), with
Brooke Postell finishing second (2:25.29).
Rollins found more success in the butterfly events, led by Dinges, who captured first in the men's 200 fly (1:47.01) and 100 fly (48.03).
Sky Murphy (1:54.7) and
Valentino Montegrande (1:55.5) followed to sweep the podium in the 200 fly. On the women's side, Angelov earned a third-place finish in the 200 fly (2:10.13) and added another top-three finish in the 100 fly (58.82).
The Tars added key points in the IM and freestyle events. Armstrong claimed the women's 500 free in 5:11.80, while Fox followed in fourth (5:18.35). Kegle secured a victory in the men's 500 free (4:37.09), with Chandgie finishing runner-up. In the IM races, Boles paced the men with a second-place finish in the 200 IM (1:58.97), while Tegler led Rollins on the women's side with a runner-up swim (2:10.27).
The meet concluded with the 400 freestyle relays. The Rollins men closed the day on a high note, as the A relay of Dinges, Chandgie, Kegle, and Slowey earned the win in 3:02.09. The women's A relay of Kwarcinski, Viney, Armstrong, and Jessup finished second in 3:35.92.
Rollins will continue SSC competition next week on Friday, January 16, against Florida Southern, starting at 12 PM at Alfond Pool.
