OCALA, Fla. — Rollins Swimming continued competition Friday evening at the Sunshine State Conference Championships, delivering four NCAA Division II B-cut performances and multiple championship finals appearances as the Tars continued to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the meet.
Senior
Luke Dinges began the night in the men's 100 butterfly, touching in 47.71 to tie for fifth overall while posting an NCAA B-cut qualifying time. Dinges split 22.46 / 25.25, earning 13.5 team points in a tightly contested A final.
In the women's 400 IM, sophomore
Taiylor Tegler added another B-cut performance to her résumé, finishing 11th overall in 4:27.93 after winning the B final to secure six points for the Tars.
The men's 200 freestyle saw a pair of B-cut efforts from the Tars. Junior
Seth Basinger placed fourth in the A final with a time of 1:37.39, earning 15 points for Rollins. Senior
Trey Carter followed in the B final, finishing 13th overall in 1:39.12, also meeting the NCAA B standard.
Rollins also posted scoring swims in the IM events, as
Lizzie Sander placed 15th in the women's 400 IM (4:37.07), while additional depth points were added across the freestyle and relay events.
The evening concluded with the 400 medley relays, where the men's A team of Dinges,
William Slowey,
Valentino Montegrande, and Carter placed fifth in 3:15.56, earning 28 points. On the women's side, the quartet of Sander, Tegler,
Melanie Angelov, and
Abby Jessup touched in 3:51.15 to finish sixth overall.
Through three days of competition, Rollins sits sixth on the men's side with 175.5 points and fifth on the women's side with 122 points as the championship meet heads into its final two days.
The Tars return to the pool Saturday morning for preliminary heats, beginning with the women's 500 free at 10 a.m.
