Kienle Named Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse Program

The longtime assistant takes over for the retiring Dennis Short

WINTER PARK, Fla. (May 28, 2025) – Rollins Associate Vice President of Athletics Pennie Parker has announced that Tom Kienle has officially been named the head coach of the women's lacrosse program, taking over for the retiring Dennis Short.

Kienle was the first assistant coach in program history, joining the coaching staff in 2008 prior to the first season of play. He was named the IWLCA Division II Assistant Coach of the Year in 2009-10 and again in 2011-12, helping every step of the way as the Tars quickly ascended from a new team to one of the premier lacrosse programs in all of Division II.

As an assistant with the Tars, Kienle has helped guide the program to a 204-78 all-time record, finishing at or above .500 in each of the last 17 seasons. During Kienle's tenure as an assistant, the Blue and Gold have produced 27 IWLCA All-Americans, 45 IWLCA All-Region players, 52 All-SSC selections, one IWLCA Defender of the Year, four IWLCA South Region Players of the Year, and two Final Four appearances.

Parker said, "Tom has been an integral part of the success of our program. I know Rollins lacrosse is in good hands moving forward, and under TK's guidance, we will continue to thrive."

The Tars wrapped up the 2025 campaign with an 8-8 record, including wins over Limestone, a team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship, and Adelphia, who finished as the national runner-up this season.
