No. 14 Rollins Sails Past Palm Beach Atlantic, 20-9

The Tars earned their first conference win of the season on Wednesday

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 9, 2025) – The 14th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-9 win over visiting Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday afternoon. The Tars are now 8-6 on the year, 1-4 in SSC play, while the Sailfish drop to 6-8 overall, 0-5 in conference games.
 
Abigail DeGroat racked up four goals, three draw controls, and an assist, while Aleksa Allen tallied three goals, two assists, two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls. Angelina Vitale (7-3) got the win in goal, making two saves on eight shots in 45 minutes of play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • DeGroat opened the scoring just 2:27 into the contest, but PBA quickly responded with a pair of goals to go up 2-1.
  • Allen, Fiona Rizzo, and DeGroat put home goals to give the Tars a 4-2 edge before the Sailfish bounced back with two goals in the final 36 seconds of the quarter to tie things up at four.
Second Quarter
  • Delanie Abere scored the first goal of the second period, followed by a PBA marker to keep things level at 5-5.
  • Carsyn Christel put the Blue and Gold back in front and that's where things stood at the half, with Rollins leading 6-5.
Third Quarter
  • The Tars came out firing in the third quarter, scoring the first six goals of the frame, including two from Bell, to push the lead to 12-5.
  • PBA got one goal back but Rollins still held a comfortable 12-6 lead as the game progressed to the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
  • Following a PBA goal, Sydney Nickel and Delaney Hudson scored in the first 1:38 of the fourth to extend the lead to 14-7.
  • After a pair of Sailfish goals cut the deficit to 14-9, the Tars closed the contest on a 6-0 run to claim a 20-9 victory.
 
UP NEXT:
Rollins will travel to Lakeland on Saturday, April 12th, to face third-ranked Florida Southern at 1 p.m.
