LAKELAND, Fla. (April 12, 2025) – The 14th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team dropped a 22-5 contest at third-ranked Florida Southern on Saturday. The Tars are now 8-7 overall, 1-5 in SSC play, while the Mocs go to 15-1 overall, 5-1 in conference games.
Katie Bell scored a pair of goals while
Abigail DeGroat,
Tess Hovivian, and
Laura Mason each tallied markers for the Tars.
Anya Studebaker (1-4) took the loss in goal, making two saves on 13 shots in 23:31 of action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- Florida Southern started strong with four goals in the first four minutes.
- Bell got the Tars on the board at the 6:23 mark but the Mocs tallied three more goals before the end of the period, taking a 7-1 lead after the first 15 minutes.
Second Quarter
- FSC outscored Rollins 7-0 in the second to build a 14-1 halftime lead.
Third Quarter
- Bell and DeGroat each scored in the third as the Mocs increased their advantage to 18-3.
Fourth Quarter
- Mason and Hovivian scored for the Blue and Gold in the fourth as Florida Southern took the 22-5 win.
