No. 14 Rollins Downed by No. 3 Florida Southern

The Tars fell by a score of 22-5 on Saturday

LAKELAND, Fla. (April 12, 2025) – The 14th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team dropped a 22-5 contest at third-ranked Florida Southern on Saturday. The Tars are now 8-7 overall, 1-5 in SSC play, while the Mocs go to 15-1 overall, 5-1 in conference games.
 
Katie Bell scored a pair of goals while Abigail DeGroat, Tess Hovivian, and Laura Mason each tallied markers for the Tars. Anya Studebaker (1-4) took the loss in goal, making two saves on 13 shots in 23:31 of action.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
  • Florida Southern started strong with four goals in the first four minutes.
  • Bell got the Tars on the board at the 6:23 mark but the Mocs tallied three more goals before the end of the period, taking a 7-1 lead after the first 15 minutes.
Second Quarter
  • FSC outscored Rollins 7-0 in the second to build a 14-1 halftime lead.
Third Quarter
  • Bell and DeGroat each scored in the third as the Mocs increased their advantage to 18-3.
Fourth Quarter
  • Mason and Hovivian scored for the Blue and Gold in the fourth as Florida Southern took the 22-5 win.

Rollins will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, April 15th, when the Tars visit 10th-ranked Saint Leo at 7 p.m.
