WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 5, 2025) – The 15th-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-6 decision on Saturday to visiting third-ranked Lynn. The Tars are now 7-6 on the season and 0-4 in SSC play, while the Fighting Knights move to 13-1 overall, 3-1 in conference games.
Kalie Gagnon tallied two goals to lead the Tars while
Fiona Rizzo recorded a goal and two assists.
Angelina Vitale (6-3) made two saves on eight shots in 22:17 of playing time in the cage for the Blue and Gold.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter
- Both defenses started strong with neither team able to find the back of the net until 12:35 into the contest.
- Lynn opened the scoring followed quickly by a goal from Carsyn Christel to tie it up.
- The Fighting Knights tacked on two more goals late in the period to take a 3-1 lead into the second.
Second Quarter
- After Lynn extended its lead to 6-1, Gagnon scored her first goal of the game near the halfway mark of the second quarter.
- Following a Fighting Knight goal, Delaney Hudson and Delanie Abere each scored in the final two minutes of the half to make it a 7-4 game.
Third Quarter
- Lynn registered the first two goals of the third before Gagnon put home her second of the game to make it 9-5.
- The visitors scored two more times in the period to go up 11-5 heading to the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
- The Fighting Knights scored five times before Rizzo found the back of the net in the closing seconds to account for the 16-6 final score.
