DALLAS, Texas (May 14, 2025) - Outfielder
Brianna Perantoni continues to stock her trophy case as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association voted her as one of eight finalists for the D-II Freshman of the Year award on Wednesday.
Perantoni was electric for the Tars this season, setting the table at the top of the lineup. In 44 games, she managed a .421 batting average, collecting 64 hits in 152 at bats. Her batting average is the ninth-highest mark in team history, while her 64 hits are the 12th-most in a season. The slap specialist had two doubles, a team-high four triples, scored 23 runs and drove in 17. She reached base at a .418 clip, and had a slugging percentage of .487.
From February 22-March 22, Perantoni had a 20-game hit streak. She also ended the year in a 13-game streak as well. She recorded at least one hit in 39 of 44 games, had multiple hits in 19 games, and had two four-hit efforts against Bridgeport and Caldwell. She is one of only 13 players in team history to have multiple four-hit games.
One student-athlete was selected from each of the eight regions around the country to create the All-Freshman team. One player from the eight finalists will be selected as the D-II Freshman of the Year on May 20. The list of honorees includes:
