Rollins Second at the Invitational

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 8, 2025) – With perfect conditions and tough competition, Rollins finished second in all but two of their races on Saturday. The Novice 4 was able to bring home the Tars only win. Rollins welcomed Embry-Riddle and the University of Florida for the day's racing. While the Tars bested the Gators in all the events, they were unable to get their bows ahead of Embry-Riddle. "Races like these keep the team grounded as they realize we still have more work to do", commented Coach Pistor. The teams will look to close the gap the next time they see Embry-Riddle and widen the gap over Florida.

The novice four (Claire Opal-Levine, Dylan Drew, Arturs Bergs, Devlin Beaubeouf, Enrique Mediato Diaz) has won two in a row. They took an early lead off the line and finished 12 seconds ahead of Florida. The men's varsity 8 finished four seconds behind Embry-Riddle's second varsity 8 and 14 seconds behind their first varsity 8. The closest race of the day was in the Varsity 4. (Theodore Preaus, Cooper Richart, Costa Demetriades, James Cone, Brennan Duntley) was in contact with Embry-Riddle the entire length of the course and made multiple moves throughout the race. Every time Rollins was able to make up a couple seats, the Eagles would counter and keep the three-second gap which eventually was the difference across the line.

Rollins will be at Stetson this coming Saturday to race Stetson, Jacksonville, Wesleyan and Embry-Riddle before they head out of the state to compete in Gainesville, Georgia.
