ORLANDO, Fla. (October 20, 2025) - The Sunshine State Conference announced their athletes of the week for games played October 13-19 on Monday afternoon. Among the honorees was men's golfer
Clarence Chapman III who was named Golfer of the Week.
Chapman had a fantastic showing at the Copperhead Invitational, hosted by West Florida at Innisbrook Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Florida. After firing a 74 (+3) in is opening round, Chapman bounced back with a career-low 66 (-5) in the second round that included seven birdies, and a two-under 69 in his bogey-free final round. His final score of 209 (-4) placed him in a three-way tie for second place alongside Bryce Wheeler (Grand Valley State) and TJ Thompson (West Florida). The trio all finished one shot behind champion Per Eklund of West Florida. Chaman had 40 pars in the tournament, tied for third-most, as well as nine birdies, which was 13th-most. Rollins finished 9th as a squad in the 17-team tournament.
Following the event, and his previous effort at the Jay Jennison Cup in September, Chapman finds himself as the #11 ranked golfer in the NCAA D-II Clippd individual player rankings that were announced last Wednesday.
