Box Score 2 SAINT LEO, Fla. (May 6, 2023) – The Rollins softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader at No. 11 Saint Leo on Saturday, falling 1-0 in the opener and 8-0 in five innings in the finale. The Tars end the regular season with a 32-16 overall record and 16-14 in conference play, while the Lions improve to 42-10 overall, 23-7 in SSC games.
Game 1 – Saint Leo 1, Rollins 0
Brie Michelli went 1-for-3 for the Tars, picking up what would be the only hit of the day for the Tars.
Jaden Walker was 0-for-1 with a walk and
Morgan Lebeda reached on a hit-by-pitch in her only plate appearance.
Ashley Worrell (5-3) took the loss, surrendering a run on three hits in five innings, walking two and striking out five.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning
- Saint Leo used a walk, single, and two stolen bases to push across a run in the opening inning, which would prove to be the only run of the game.
Fifth Inning
- Michelli singled to open the fifth, becoming the first Tar to reach base.
- After a pair of strikeouts, Michelli was caught stealing to end the inning.
Sixth Inning
- Rollins put two on in the sixth thanks to a walk and a hit batter.
- Both runners advanced to second and third on a wild pitch with two outs, but the Tars couldn't push across the tying run.
Seventh Inning
- The Tars went down in order in the seventh, dropping the opening game, 1-0.
Game 2 – Saint Leo 8, Rollins 0 (5 inn.)
The offensive struggles continued for Rollins in game two; the Tars failed to reach base in any of their 15 plate appearances as Saint Leo's Kayla Betts tossed a five-inning perfect game.
Emily MacMullen (18-11) suffered the loss, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits in 2.1 innings, walking one and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Inning
- Saint Leo took advantage of three Rollins errors in the first inning to score three runs.
Third Inning
- The Lions tacked on three more runs on the strength of four hits in the third, doubling their lead to 6-0.
Fourth Inning
- Saint Leo was able to score twice in the fourth to extend its advantage to 8-0.
Fifth Inning
- The Tars went down in order in the fifth, falling by a score of 8-0.
