LAKELAND, Fla. (Feb. 7, 2023) – The Rollins men's golf team took home 12th place at the Matlock Collegiate Classic hosted by Florida Southern at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland. The Tars shot a 322 in the final round for a tournament total of 939 (305-312-322).
Drew Lanier finished tied for 36th with a 232 (75-76-81) while
Warut Wongrungroj (77-77-82) and R.J. Glod (77-80-79) wound up tied for 49th with 236s.
Franco Misdorp tied for 52nd (76-79-82=237) and
Wigo Weisner placed 69th (81-81-80=242).
Nova Southeastern won the tournament with a 31-over 895 (300-293-302), finishing one stroke ahead of Florida Southern (298-298-300=896). Tampa dropped to third with a 900 (293-294-313), followed by Barry (303-296-303=902) and West Florida (299-301-303=903) in the top five.
Barry's Felipe Alvarez (73-71-73) defeated FSC's Freddie Parlby (71-37-79) with a par on the first playoff hole after the two finished with identical one-over 217s. NSU's Michael Hay was third with a 218 (76-71-71), while Barry's A.J. Ewart (73-73-74) and Limestone's Gage Carnes (71-73-76) finished tied for fourth with 220s.
