Haessig Ties for Fourth at Barry

Rollins finished 12th of 18 teams at the Battle at the Lakes

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (March 31, 2026) - Men's golf wrapped up their regular season with a twelfth-place finish at Barry's Battle at the Lakes, held at Miami Lakes Country Club. 

Monday's first round saw Mick Herron blaze the trail for the Tars with seven birdies in his opening tour of the course, giving him a two-under 70. Four shots behind him was Gustav Ordel, who triple-bogeyed his second hole, then eagled his third hole to recover. He ended up with a 74 for the first round. Clarence Chapman III provided the shot of the tournament when he aced the 147-yard seventh hole on his way to a 77 (+5). Andrew Clark rounded out the team score with an 82 (+10). Sean Dobson was in the lineup as well for the Tars, but had to withdraw due to injury. 

Unfortunately, head coach Kyle Frakes was not able to sub in either of his individual competitors. Jules Haessig had an incredible finish to his opening round, using an eagle on nine and three birdies in his last five holes to finsh with a 69 (-3). Jacob Hari posted a solid 75 (+3) in the first. 

Herron and Ordel both stayed hot in the afternoon session, posting identical scores of 71 (-1). Herron had 14 pars and holed out on his second shot on 18 for an eagle. Ordel was good for four birdies in his effort. Clark bounced back nicely in the second, posting a 74 (+2), and Chapman added a 79 (+5). On the individual side, Haessig shot even par, and matched Herron with an eagle on five. Hair played to a 79 (+7). 

Tuesday featured the final round of play. Ordel was the only team player to finish under par, using three bidries and three pars in his last six holes to finish with a 71. Chapman and Clark each posted scores of 73, and Herron had a rainbow card for his 74 that included six birdies, six bogeys, and a double. Haessig continued his hot play, shaking off an opening hole bogey to record seven birdies and claim a 69 on the scorecard. Hair saved his best round of the tournament for last, shooting an even par 72. 

Haessig ended up in a tie for fourth place with a 210 (-6). Herron finished tied for 13th with his 215 (-1), and Ordel was oen shot behind in a tie for 17th at 216.

USC Beaufort ran away with the trophy, shooting under par in all three rounds to finish with a 842 (-22). Saint Leo was second at 855 (-9), followed by Palm Beach Atlantic (865), Barry (867), and Lynn (876). Rollins finished in twelfth with a score of 889. 

The Tars will have a few weeks off before competing in the SSC Championship, hosted by Saint Leo at Lake Jovita South. Last year, Mick Herron took home the individual title from Rio Pinar Golf Club in Orlando.
