FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March 24, 2026) - The men's golf team put together a solid three-round effort on Monday and Tuesday, finishing in sixth place at Nova Southeastern's Shark Invitational, held at Grande Oakes Country Club.
Monday morning's round saw
Clarence Chapman III come out of the gates on fire as he finished his opener with five birdies, two bogeys, and a three-under 68, putting him near the top of the leaderboard.
Andrew Clark matched his teammate with five birdies of his own, ending under par with a 70. Sophomore
Mick Herron put four birdies on his card, finishing with a 72.
Sean Dobson then rounded out the scoring with a three-over 74. The Tars had two other players in action.
Gustav Ordel saw his first action of the season, carding a 75.
Jacob Hair played as an independent, and used four birdies to post a score of 72 (+1).
The afternoon session saw the Tars dialed in from the tee box as five of the six golfers finished under par. Ordel put up a career-high six birdies in the second round, and finished with another career-best, a round score of 68 (-3). Chapman, Dobson, and Herron each finished with a one-under 70; Chapman and Dobson both had three birdies and two bogeys, while Herron shot a bogey-free round with one birdie and 17 pars. Hair had another strong showing form his independent spot, matching his comrades with a round of 70.
In Tuesday's final round, windy conditions led to a couple of extra shots from each player. Chapman wrapped up his event with an even 71 that saw four birdies and four bogeys hit the scorecard. Dobson finished with a 72, Clark a 73, and Ordel a 74. Hair added a 73 to his card.
Rollins ended up in sixth overall, finishing with an even score of 852. Florida Southern claimed the trophy with an 831 (-21), followed by host Nova Southeastern (835), Flagler (843), Barry (843), and Saint Leo (845). A total of 16 teams, including all ten from the Sunshine State Conference, participated in the tournament.
Chapman finished in a tie for sixth out of 84 players with a four-under 209. Hair had his best finish of the year, tied for 26th at 215 (+2). Dobson was one shot behind him at 216, good for 34th. Ordel finished in the top half of the field in his first tournament, posting a 217 (+4). Florida Southern's Colton Swartz took the individual trophy, going under in all three rounds for a 202 (-11).
The Tars will hit the links one more time before postseason play. They head to Miami Lakes Country Club to take part in BArry's Battle at the Shores next Monday, March 30.
