ST. JOHN'S, Fla. (February 6, 2023) - Rollins women's golf opened their 2023 spring season with two rounds at Slammer and Squire Golf Club, home to the World Golf Invitational hosted by Flagler College. The Tars carded a team score of 288 in each of the first two rounds to sit at even par, good enough for second place overall.
Elizabeth Kondal provided the highlight of the day on the thirteenth hole of her opening round, nailing the 161-yard Par 3 for a hole-in-one. In addition to her once-in-a-lifetime shot, she also added four birdies in the first round to tie for 4th overall with a -2 (70).
Carla Alvarez Perez joined her under the par line with a -1 (71).
Katharina Hesse eagled number eighteen to put her in the clubhouse at +1 (73). Overall, the Tars shot 288 as a team in the first round, which was good for second place, just four shots behind #7-ranked Nova Southeastern. Rollins was the only team on Monday to have two players card an eagle or better.
The players jumped right into the second round. Hesse dominated her second go-round, putting together a 68 (-4), tied for the lowest score of the day. She recorded five birdies, one bogey and twelve pars in the afternoon session. She ended the day at -3 overall, two shots back of the leader.
Liza Eubanks turned her day around with a strong 71 (-1) in the second that included four birdies. Kondal turned in a card of 76 in the second round, bringing her total to 146 (+2), tied for 12th place.
Tove Rosengren also played well in both rounds, going for scores of 74 and 73 for a +3 overall.
The tournament will wrap up on Tuesday morning. Rollins is grouped with Nova Southeastern and Tampa. Five players from each school will tee off between 9:30 - 10:06 am.
