CLEARWATER, Fla. (February 19, 2022) – The Tars closed the gap, but remain in fourth after the fourth day of the Sunshine State Conference Championship. It was
Beatriz Olivieri who again highlighted the Rollins effort, picking up a gold medal in the 500 Yard Freestyle.

Jill Hughes,
Alonna Clark, and
Sydney Willis all earned spots in the event's B-Final.Â
Leora Rose and
Danielle Boland advanced to the B-Final of the 100 Yard Backstroke, with Rose setting a new school record with a time of 57.86.Â
Abigayle Wood earned an A-Final berth in the 100 Yard breaststroke.Â
Lauren Diehl rounded out the morning qualifiers earning a B-Final place in the 200 Yard Butterfly.

It was Olivieri who got the night swim started for the Tars. The senior swam near the front of the pack for the entire race, pulling away late to win the event by almost four seconds. Olivieri stopped the clock in 4:53.95, an NCAA B-Cut time. Hughes also clocked an NCAA B-Cut time in the B-Final, while Clark and Willis also tallied points for Rollins with 15
th and 16
th place results.

Rose registered a second place result in the 100 Yard Backstroke B-Final, tenth overall, bettering her own school record with a time of 57.62.

Wood finished eighth in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, tallying 11 points for Rollins.

Diehl and Brown registered 13
th and 14
th place finishes in the 200 Yard Butterfly, touching the wall in 2:07.42 and 2:09.06 respectively.

Emily Hennessy, Clark, Brown, and Ana Van Zyverden earned a fifth place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, stopping the clock in 1:37.06. Boland,
Morgan Reilly,
Amelia Kondal, and Rose finished fourth in their heat of the event, 12
th overall, in 1:39.01.

The top five teams remain the same with Nova Southeastern in the lead with 703 points. Tampa is comfortably in second with 652 points. Florida Southern hold the final podium spot with 362.5 points. The fifth place Tars closed the gap on fourth place Lynn down to just 26 points. Saint Leo jumped Florida Tech on the day in the battle at the bottom of the leaderboard.
