Tars Wrap Up UNC Ruth's Chris Invitational

Rollins competed against a loaded D-1 Field in Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, NC (October 18, 2022) - The women's golf team faced a loaded Division-I field at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite, held at the Governor's Club over the past two days. The Tars finished last in the event while the Kentucky Wildcats took home first-place. For the second week in a row, Rollins was the only D-II school playing in the event.

Katharina Hesse was the top performer for the Tars, finishing with a final score of 234 over three rounds, (+18). She ended in a tie for 66th place on the individual leaderboard. After firing an 80 in the first round, Hesse bounced back with a 76 in round two, the best score of any Tar in the event. She then split the difference with a final round 78 on Tuesday. She had five of Rollins' 18 birdies, including four in the final round. 

Olivia Tamburlini, who had the low-round for the Tars in last week's Edisto Island Invitational, shot 79-80-78=237. She led all Tars with six total birdies. Carla Alvarez Perez, Tove Rosengren, and Berni Villalba all finished with identical scores of 242 for the event. 

Rollins will look to bounce back in two weeks when they play host for the annual Legends Invitational. This year's edition will be held October 31-November 1 at the Brandeton Country Club in Bradenton, FL.
