WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 8, 2021) – The Tars struggled to break down the Lynn defense, while the Fighting Knights capitalized on their opportunities to take down the Tars, 3-1. Rollins falls to 1-3 in their spring campaign. The Fighting Knights win their first contest of 2021.
Talya Duffy registered the Tars only score, adding to an already productive spring campaign. She was assisted by
Sarah Skala.
Noel Miller and
Elena Beasley split time in net for Rollins, each seeing 45 minutes of action.
After an evenly played and defensive first 30 minutes Lynn got the breakthrough just after the half hour mark. The Fighting Knights got a corner kick, and while
Noel Miller stopped the first effort she could not keep out Anniina Sankoh's follow up attempt. It would be Sankoh who double the Lynn lead before the break, getting on the end of a pass and sliding the ball beyond the reach of Miller in a one-on-one chance. Rollins upped the intensity in the last five minutes of the half, but could not find the back of the net, trailing 2-0 at the break.
Lynn would increase their lead to 3-0 with a long range goal off the foot of Kathryn Rodrigues in the 69
th minute. The Tars would create numerous second half chances, and finally converted a consolation effort in the 86
th.
Sarah Skala threaded a perfectly weighted pass through the Lynn backline, finding the feet of
Tayla Duffy who tucked beyond a sprawling Lynn keeper. The final minutes ticked off the clock and the game ended with the scoreboard showing 3-1.
