MELBOURNE, Fla. (October 21, 2026) - Women's soccer was minutes away from an impressive draw with the #1 Florida Tech Panthers, but a late goal handed the Tars their fourth consecutive loss. Rollins now stands at 6-7-1 (3-5-1 SSC) while Florida Tech remains unbeaten at 11-0-6 (5-0-4 SSC).
Rollins got on the board first with a goal from
Alayna Townsend. After Florida Tech forced a turnover, a poor backwards pass was intercepted by Townsend. Her initial shot hit the crossbar, but it bounced back to her, allowing a second strike. This one found the net, putting Rollins up 1-0.
Only eight minutes later, the Panthers struck back. They covered the length of the field with just two passes, allowing Charlotte Waibel the space needed to beat
Lauren Mehos with a shot that tied the game.
The game would remain in a stalemate for the next 71 minutes. Both defenses locked in, while Mehos and Mette Brandes were brick walls in goal. Unfortunately, in the 8th minute, Iselin Brualoekken was able to dribble through multiple Tar defenders and put one past Mehos to take the lead.
Rollins was unable to put another shot on target, resulting in a 2-1 loss.
Florida Tech doubled Rollins up in shots 20-10, and also won the corner battle, 6-2.
Rollins will wrap up their regualr season on Tuesday night when they travel to Saint Leo to face the Lions. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
