Tars Close Spring with Loss Against Tampa

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 17, 2021) – Rollins could not hold an early lead, as they fell to the Tampa Spartans 2-1 at Barker Family Stadium.  The Tars end their spring at 1-4, while Tampa ends their season at 6-0-1.
 
Anna Todd tallied the lone Rollins goal of the match.  Lana Truong tallied an assist for the Tars.   Elena Beasley and Noel Miller split time in net, each playing 45 minutes.
 
The Spartans controlled the first 20 minutes of the contest, but only created one chance on target.  Rollins grew into the game at the halfway point.  The Tars found the scoreboard first.  Lana Truong carved the Tampa defense before laying off a pass to Anna Todd who fired a shot into the bottom corner of the net.  Both teams battled to close the first period, but neither team could add to their totals, as Rollins took the 1-0 lead into the break.
 
The Spartans equalized early in the second, capitalizing on a defensive miscommunication to find the back of the net.  The Spartans would push in front in the 74^th minute.  Tampa's high press caused Rollins issue and forced a turnover deep in the Tars defensive zone, which they converted into a goal.  Rollins pushed forward for the final stretch, but could not find an equalizer.
 
This match concludes the Tars spring 2021 season.
