Tars Win Panther Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. (November 21, 2021) – Rollins dominated the Panther Invitational winning their first meet of the season. Rollins scored 1,293 points over the three day event. The Tars narrowly edged Florida Southern who tallied 1,271 points. Lynn took third with 868 points, while hosts, Florida Tech, rounded out the field with 741 points. The Tars set six new school records and four NCAA B Cut times.
HOW IT HAPPENED DAY 1
  • Beatriz Olivieri smashed the school record in the 500 freestyle, making the NCAA B cut, and taking first, with a time of 4:53.47. 
  • Anna Van Zyverden took third place in the 50 freestyle, besting the school record and making the NCAA B Cut in a time of 23.96.
  • Jill Hughes finished fourth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:03.57.
  • In the final event of the day on Friday Rollins' 400 medley relay team, consisting of Leora Rose, Abigayle Wood, Olivieri and Zyverden, finished as runners-up, with a time of 3:51.48, bettering  the school record  with a time of 3:58.82.
HOW IT HAPPENED DAY 2
  • Beatriz Olivieri continued the trend of rewriting the school record book. The senior took first place in the 100 butterfly, Olivieri crushed the school record with a time of 55.44.
  • Morgan Reily finished second in the 400 IM, registering a NCAA B Cut, with a time of 4:22.41.
  • In the 200 medley relay Leora Rose, Abigayle Wood, Beatriz Olivieri, and Anna Van Zyverden captured the victory in 1:45.82.
  • During the 800 relay the Tars beat the school record by three seconds, taking first place with a time of 7:35.69.
HOW IT HAPPENED DAY 3
  • Beatriz Olivieri continued her dominance with a first place result in the 200 butterfly, with a time of 2:03.79.
  • Jill Hughes tallied a runner-up finish in the 1650 freestyle in 17:18.12.The time earns her a NCAA B Cut time. 
  • Alana Goodwin was right behind teammate Jill in the 1650 placing third with a time of 17:42.65.
  • Morgan Reily crushed the school record in the 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:05.30.
  • Anna Van Zyverden took third place in the 100 freestyle, stopping the clock in 52.24.
  • In the 200 breaststroke, Abigayle Wood captured third place, finishing in 2:21.88

Rollins will close out 2021 in Ave Maria, Florida for a dual meet against Ave Maria University December 17 at 11 am.
