CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (October 15, 2021) – Rollins sits 19
th after the first round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. Rollins struggled on their opening 18 holes at Finley Golf Course, facing one of the strongest Division I fields in the country, but a number of teams remain in striking distance in the tightly packed field.

Rollins shot a 301, good for a score of 13 over par after one day of the three day event. Virginia Tech holds the lead after round one, with a one shot edge on Wake Forest. The Kentucky Wildcats are alone in third place at four under par. Michigan and Clemson are tied for fourth, at three under par.

Jennifer Jung and
Elizabeth Kondal each tallied scores of two-over, 74, to lead Rollins in the opening round. The pair sit in a tie for 53
rd overall.Â
Bernardita Villalba is one stroke behind her teammates, after a score of 75 on her first 18 holes.Â
Katharina Hesse registered a 78, good for a tie for 85
th position.Â
Carla Alvarez Perez rounds out the Tars rotation with a score of 82.

Erica Shepard of Duke leads the field, at her rival's event, with a round of six-under, 66. Laney Frye of Kentucky and Benedetta Moresco of Alabama are tied in second at four under. Marissa Wenzler of Kentucky, Kayla Smith of the hosts, North Carolina, Haylin Harris, playing as an independent from Michigan State, Symone Henriques of Virginia Tech and Emily Mahar of Virginia Tech are all tied in fourth at three under.
