Tars Fourth After 18 Holes at Edisto Island

EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. (October 10, 2021) – The Tars sit fourth after day one at the Edisto Island Invitational.  Carla Alvarez Perez and Jennifer Jung lead the Tars, and are tied at sixth overall, at even par, after 18 holes.

The Tars shot a sixth over, 290, to tie for fourth after one round on the Plantation Course at Edisto Island.  Rollins is tied with Georgia Southern.  College of Charleston leads the event, at four under.  UNC Ashville and Jacksonville are tied in second at four over par, 288.

Carla Alvarez tallied three birdies on the back nine as part of her even par opening 18 holes.  Jennifer Jung's opening round was highlighted by an eagle on the 10^th hole, as she matched her teammate at even par.  Katharina Hesse and Bernardita Villalba sit in a tie for 26^th position, at three over.  Elizabeth Kondal rounds out the Tars lineup and is one shot back, at four over.
 
Venecia Zala of UNC Ashville leads the field at four under par.  Viktoria Hund is one shot off the lead, representing College of Charleston.  Her teammate, Emma Schimpf, is in third place, at two-under par.  Amalia Shahzan, of Oakland, and Jenna Fonda, of Jacksonville are tied in the fourth spot.

The Tars will tee off for the second round at the Edisto Island Plantation Course tomorrow, Monday, October 11.  Rollins will be teeing off at 10 a.m.
