Competing in the Ironman Gulf Coast 70.3, Grace finished first in the field. Officials at the event say it is the first time in Ironman history that a female won the overall event competing against both men and women. A Ironman 70.3, or Half Ironman, consists of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile run. The 2014 Rollins graduate completed the swim in 27:28, the bike in 2:22:55, and the run in 1:35:57, for a total time of 4:33:36, 3:03 faster than her next closest competition.
Â
During her career in the pool at Rollins Grace set three school records, the 500 yard freestyle, the 1000 yard freestyle, and the 1650 yard freestyle. She tallied points in each event at the 2013 and 2014 SSC Championships, including a fourth place result, and an NCAA B-Cut time, in the 1000 yard event in 2013.
Â
Grace has been rising up the USA Triathlon ranks in recent years. She was named a Honorable Mention USA Triathlon 2019 Age Group Triathlete of the Year presented by Wahoo Fitness in the Women's Open Age-Group.Â
