WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 17, 2014) - The Rollins baseball team dropped their 10th straight game as they suffered a 5-1 decision to the No. 19 Florida Southern Moccasins Thursday evening at Alfond Stadium.

The Tars drop to an overall record of 13-24 and a 1-18 mark in the SSC. Florida Southern improves to 27-13 and 10-6 in the conference.

Rollins starter Matt Hendricks was tagged with the loss and falls to 3-4 on the season. Hendricks tossed 6.0 innings and allowed four runs on six hits.

Florida Southern's Clay Chapman worked 8.0 innings to pick up the win. The right-handed pitcher threw seven innings of scoreless baseball before Rollins managed to erase Chapman's shutout.

In the bottom eighth, Peter Nicoletto blasted a one-out double to right center to set him up for the Tars' only run of the game. A fielding error by the Mocs shortstop moved Nicoletto over to third. Hunter Mayfield then hit a ball up the middle to drive the freshman in.

Rollins was unable to capitalize off the little bit of momentum built and went 3-up, 3-down in the ninth. Nate Carter collected his sixth save of the season and recorded one strikeout.

FSC spread their scoring offense through three innings. The Mocs scored one run in the third, three in the sixth and one in the ninth.

The Tars were outhit 9-5 by the Mocs, but went error-free on the night.

Hunter Mayfield led the Tars lineup with two hits. Nicoletto, Christopher Corbett and Brett Flutie recorded the remainder of the Tars hits.

The three-game series between the Tars and Mocs will resume on Friday, April 18 with a doubleheader slated to begin at 1 p.m. Rollins will also be honoring five seniors for all their hard work and dedication to the baseball program.
