The Tars answered back in the home half as Persky crossed the plate on a two-out single by Matt Hendricks. LU would score once again in the top second and would hold a lead until the bottom third.

Peter Nicoletto evened the score in the third after reaching base on a leadoff walk. The freshman made his way around the bases on a steal, passed ball and scored on a Yuta Okazaki sacrifice bunt.

The Fighting Knights took the go-ahead lead in the fifth on a leadoff solo home run by Kain. The third baseman led LU with a 3-for-5 performance, to go with two runs, two RBI and solo home run.
