Her recent hot streak dates back to the end of March, when she took first-place at Lynn University's Lynn Invitational at Boca Woods Golf Club. She fired a 69 in the final round to capture her first career title. Two weeks later, in the SSC Tournament, Li was third in the individual standings while helping the Tars to a third-place team finish.
At the NCAA South Regional, which took place at Cleveland Golf & Country Club between May 4-6, Li was tied for fifth out of 104 players. She and Lincoln Memorial's Ruby McLellan had to battle in a one-hole playoff to see which individual would advance to the National Championship. Though Li dropped the playoff hole, it does not take away from the monster year she had.
"Youyang has been a fantastic competitor, and has made tremendous strides this season," remarked head coach
Julie Garner. "It's hard to believe that this is her first year in college golf; she plays like a seasoned vet. She definitely has some things to improve on, but her future is bright."
On a smaller scaled, Li was named the Female Newcomer of the Year at the Tommy Awards, presented by SAAC, on April 26.
