Greetings #TARnation! You did it! No more class! Wooooooo! While you're cramming for your finals, feel free to take a break and catch up on the latest in Rollins athletics:
- SSCÂ CHAMPIONS! The women's rowing team captured the SSC title last Friday, placing second in both the Varsity 4 and the Varsity 8 to outscore #3 Embry-Riddle by one point, 20-19, to claim their first crown since 2002. Incredible effort from the ladies. Sophie Bolan, Abby Kleba, Teagan Hanley, and Claire Opal-Levine were each named to the All-SSC team, with Hanley also adding a spot on the All-Freshman Team.Â
- Baseball unleashed an offensive onslaught on the Eckerd Tritons last weekend, outscoring their foe 62-15 in a three-game sweep. The Tars won game one 24-4, game two 21-4, and game three 17-7. Senior outfielder Michael Furry was named the SSC Player of the Week thanks to six hits, a double, three home runs, nine runs scored, eight RBI, and four stolen bases. It was a huge series win for the Tars, putting them in a great spot for an NCAA South Region bid.Â
- Softball lost two of three against Eckerd at home, but their win was ELECTRIC. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Rachel Matthiesen dropped a bomb over the left field wall to pull the Tars within one. Next up was Madi Carr, who did the same thing, tying the game with a solo home run. Headed to extras, Reese Twiggs pitched a scoreless eighth, and then Rollins won when Daylin Hejtmanek singled home Kaeli Zahradnik for the 7-6 win.Â
- Men's tennis celebrated their seniors in the best possible way on Friday, sweeping the Washington & Lee Generals 7-0. Mo Anterist swept his singles and doubles matches in dominant fashion, earning himself a SSC Player of the Week award. The Tars wrap up their regular season with an 18-2 record. Prior to the match, seniors Richie Stoiberer, Fabian Gusic, and Eltavious Johnson were honored by Coach Jay Friedman and their teammates.Â
-Â Women's tennis saw their season come to a close when they dropped a match 4-1 to the Florida Southern Mocs in the first round of the SSC Championship. They wrap up their season with a 13-8 record.Â

-Men's Tennis takes to the courts for Sunshine State Conference tournament play beginning tomorrow. The men will duke it out with Embry-Riddle bright and early, beginning their quest for a conference title at 9am in the quarterfinal round. The Tars and Eagles met in the same round last year, and it was the opposition getting the upper hand. Not this year. Coach Friedman has the team fired up and ready. Go get that trophy, gentlemen.
Â
-Speaking of a trophy hunt, women's golf aims to do the same as they begin NCAA Regional Championship play on Monday. The women will make the trek up to Cleveland, Tennessee where Lee University will play host to 18 teams from throughout the South and Southeast region at the Cleveland Country Club. Rollins slotted in at number 11 in the competitive field, but the ladies have overcome challenging competitors before – evidenced most recently with a podium finish at conference. The top four teams will advance to the championships at PGA National Resort down in Palm Beach Gardens. Why not the Tars? Good luck, ladies! We believe in you!
Â
-Baseball will celebrate ten seniors for their fantastic contributions to the program and Rollins College community on Sunday. The festivities will precede the final game of a four-game set with visiting Wayne State. With a weekend off from conference play, the Tars welcome the #17 ranked Warriors for what should be an entertaining series! This will be the final time to watch the boys in action at home for the regular season. Don't miss it! Special shoutout to Joey Rubin, Jimmy Thies, Stephen Deans, Anthony Matties, Tyler Toro, Jack Haynes, Michael Furry, Ryan Taylor, Matthew Mateo. Stephen Cherepanya who will be recognized!
