Greyson Alexander Signs With Tars Via Team Impact

Seven year old named an honoray team member

WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Rollins men's basketball team welcomed their newest teammate on Tuesday when seven year old Greyson Alexander signed a contract to be a member of Tars hoops.

Greyson was introduced to the Tars through Team IMPACT. The 501(c)(3) organization matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, creating a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved.

Head coach Kevin Hogan and the full roster were on hand Tuesday to welcome Greyson to the family, and cheer him on as he signed his contract, pledging himself to Tars fandom.

"Greyson is an incredible young man, who has been through so much in his young life," noted Hogan. "We are honored to have him become a part of our team, and we look forward to having him at our games next season."

Greyson was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was four-years old, but through months of hard work and determination, has seen regression in his illness. The Apopka native is described by his mother, Britany, as "easy-going, positive, and a lover of basketball" which made the match with the Tars a no-brainer.

The day had special meaning for Tars center Mayson Quartlebaum, who has been a big proponent for working with Team IMPACT. Quartlebaum had to overcome a battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma before he transferred to Rollins prior to the start of this season. Mayson talks about his journey through recovery in this Spectrum News 13 piece from Thomas Cook.
