SARASOTA, Fla. (March 28, 2026) – The Rollins men's rowing team turned in one of its most consistent performances of the season at the Sarasota 2K, earning two silver and three bronze medals against a competitive field.
While the Tars did not capture a gold medal on the day, the Novice 8+ came closest, delivering a standout race.

The crew exploded off the line, establishing control through the opening 1,000 meters. Jacksonville responded with a move just past the halfway mark, but coxswain Burke Dunne and the Tars answered, reclaiming their position.
With 700 meters remaining, Jacksonville made a final push that proved just enough, crossing the line five seconds ahead of Rollins, as the Tars secured silver.
"Our guys looked good today," said assistant coach Gustafson. "This young group of rowers is learning something new every day, and it's tenfold in race conditions like we experienced in Sarasota."
Rollins also earned bronze medals in the following events:
- Men's Pair (2-)
-
- Men's JV 4+
-
- Men's Second Varsity 4+
-
These races were competitive, with finishing order often established early, but the Tars maintained strong, consistent execution throughout.
Additional results included:
- Men's Varsity 8 – 4th
- Men's JV 8 – 5th
- Men's Novice 4 – 2nd
- Men's Varsity 4 – 4th
The performance marked an important step forward as the Tars continue to build depth and race consistency heading into the championship season.
Rollins now turns its attention to SIRA Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where the Tars plan to compete in the Varsity 8, Novice 8, and Varsity 4. The team may also see additional action in a potential scrimmage this weekend at the DII Invite in Clearmont.
