Dad Vail: Day 1 Recap (4 of 6 in Grands)

PENNSAUKEN, NJ - It was a very successful Day 1 for that TARS at the 2026 Dad Vail Regatta.

All six boats rowed well in the time trials putting them in great positions for the semi's in the afternoon racing.
Men's Pair - 4th out of 15 (time trail)
Men's Novice 4 - 6th out of 9 (time trail)
Women's DII 4 - 3rd out of 13 (time trial)
Men's Varsity 4 - 8th out of 11 (time trial)
Women's DII 8 - 1st our of 3 (time trial)
Men's Single - 15th out of 16 (time trial)

WDII8, WDII4, MN4 and M2 have all earned their way into the Grand Finals for Saturday.   The Men's Varsity 4 fell just short in their semi final race placing them into the second level final while the men's single concluded his season in the third level final this after noon.   Huge hats off to Guille Acha (men's single) for learning to scull 1 week prior to Dad Vails and attacking the challenge with no reservations.   His coaches and team could not be more proud and he has made all Rollins Rowers proud.

The Women's DII 4 continues to prove their ability in the DII racing world, finishing 2nd in their semi, 5 seconds ahead of Jefferson and with the second fastest time  out of the two semi-final races.

The men's novice 4 pulled the 3rd fastest time of the two semi's and in their race came from 3rd to place second to secure that time.

The men's pair came out of fourth place to make their way into the grand finals. They were down by open water and sprinted like crazy.  To celebrate making the grand finals, the pair flipped after crossing the line so they could get as much camera time as possible in the live stream.  These guys rowed the pair in 2025 and finished 13th and are on a mission to continue to 2026 quest.

The women's varsity 8 is excited to see Jefferson heads up as they and the rest of the women's team continue to push for that NCAA bid they have been working for all year.

The MV4 were making a run for a medal and though that is out of reach they are determined to win the petitie finals.

Please  watch the live-stream and if you are around, please plan on coming to the alumni tent on the side of the Cooper River where we will have food, drinks and the ability to share stoires from the past while cheering on our finalists.  Please don't let the potential rain and weather keep you from coming.  You are all Rollins Rowers and have been on the water for much worse.
