Camden, N.J. - The Rollins Men's Rowing Team put together solid performances across the board at the 2026 Dad Vail Regatta. None of the crews were able to make the podium but each of the crews laid down their best race to date.
There was a late adjustment to the schedule Friday night due to some potential weather rolling in later on Saturday. This adjustment put all the grand final races first thing in the morning which had the Men's Pair and Men's Novice four out on the course early.
The pair laid down a redemption race from 2025. Scotch and Lopez-Morton finished next to last the previous year and this year crossed the line fourth out of 15 crews. The top two crews were out and not going to be touched. Rollins got into a back and forth battle with Florida rival Jacksonville and was able to beat them by 2 seconds. The finish order was as follows; Oklahoma City, Queens, Mercyhurst, Rollins, Jacksonville and RIT.
The men's novice 4 rowed a great race and should be proud of their accomplishments this season in both the Novice 8 which they owed up till Dad Vails and the Novice 4 here at Dad Vails. Rollins got off the line with the pack and fought the entire way down the course. The finish order was Temple, Sand Diego, Drexel, Lafayette, Rollins and Stetson. The battle that shook out was between Florida schools, Rollins and Stetson for 5
th place. Rollins was able to hold Stetson off the entire time crossing the line 1.4 seconds ahead of Stetson.
The men's varsity 4 had to wait till the next to last race of the day for their petite final. These guys shot off the line with Fairfield and it was a two boat race to win this event. Fairfield had a small lead as they crossed the 500m mark which the TARS clawed back to have their lowballs cross the 1000m mark dead even. Both boat continued to push and push and ever so slowly Fairfield moved ahead of the TARS. Rollins did not lose any speed they just could not find that little bit extra to keep pace with Fairfield. As they crossed the line, Fairfield posted a 7:05 and Rollins posted a 7:10. Franklin Marshal was 13 seconds behind Rollins, and then RIT another 9 seconds back followed by Iona who finished 6th.
This race concludes the Men's Rowing Team's 2026 spring season. The entire team had a lot of successes as well as room to grow as they continue the journey. Huge thanks to our seniors who we say good-bye to as well as thank you for your leadership and dedication to the team.
Thank you to all our parents, alumni, and supporters for a great season and being there to support our crews.
