ORLANDO, Fla. (February 9, 2026) - The Sunshine State Conference announced their players of the week for games played February 2-8 on Monday afternoon. Among the honorees for men's basketball were
Mayson Quartlebaum for offense, and
Omar Figueroa for defense.
The Tars faced off against Florida Tech on the road on Wednesday and Florida Southern at home on Saturday. In the game against Tech, Quartlebaum continued his recent hot streak as a force in the paint. In thirty minutes of action, the Kansas native went 8-11 (73%( from the floor and 4-5 at the free throw line to total 20 points. He also added six rebounds, an assist, and a steal. In the same game, Figueroa was credited with four steals and six rebounds while also scoring 17 points.
Saturday's matchup with Florida Southern saw Rollins turn in one of their best performances of the season while snapping a nine-game losing streak to the Mocs. Quartlebaum once again demonstrated brute strength and a soft touch down low, scoring a team-high 26 points on 9-13 (69%) shooting. The big man was 8-10 from the free throw line, grabbed nine rebounds, dished out three assists, and had a monster block as well. Figueroa repeated his Wednesday performance, pilfering the Mocs four times, adding a block, and snagging three rebounds.
For the week, Quartlebaum ended with 46 points on 17-24 shooting (71%) with 15 rebounds and four assists. It is his first Offensive Player of the Week award.
Figueroa ended with eight steals, nine rebounds, and a block while adding 33 points on the offensive end. It is also his first SSC recognition as Defensive Player of the Week. Figueroa now has five games this year with at least four steals while ranking fourth iverall in the SSC with 39 total.
