WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 7, 2026) - Men's basketball put together one of their best efforts of the season on Saturday, defeating the Florida Southern Mocs 99-76. The win moves Rollins to 13-10, 7-8 SSC while the Mocs drop to 17-7, 9-5.
After taking a few minutes to figure out the gameplan, Rollins had a simple solution ... get the ball to
Mayson Quartlebaum. The big man was feasting all day in the paint, scoring the first six points of the game for the Tars and leading the team in scoring for the day. The first twelve points of the game for Rollins were scored either in the paint or at the free throw line. when they finally hit their first three, courtesy of
Marshall Klug with under twelve to go, it tied the game at 15.
Quartlebaum scored on the next two possessions for Rollins, and they did not give up the lead from there.
Ricky Ghedini has been stellar since sliding into the starting lineup, and today was no different. He scored seven straight points around the eight-minute mark, and when he wasn't scoring, he was finding open teammates, ending the game with eight assists.
The Mocs kept fighting, and made it a 28-27 game with 6:49 to go, but
Jah Nze put a stop to the run with five points of his own. That was followed by a tip-in from
Ryan Renfro, a welcome sight for Tars' fans as the big man made his first appearance in four weeks. Nze's three with four seconds left gave Rollins a 41-31 lead at halftime.
The second half was a total team effort, with
Omar Figueroa getting in on the scoring action and
Michael Kalina providing a spark off the bench wit rebounding and playmaking ability. Defensively, Rollins was swarming the Mocs, forcing them into contested shots and turnovers. Florida Southern managed just 12-31 field goals (38%) in the first half, and 13-33 (39%) in the second half. They were also only 8-36 (22%) from deep.
Meanwhile, Rollins shot a blistering 20-32 (63%) from the floor in the final twenty minutes. Nine players made their way into the scorebook, including
Jett Wells, who drove in for a tough layup in the final minute for his first career points. By the final horn, Rollins had secured an impressive 99-76 win.
Quartlebaum ended up with 26 points on 9-13 shooting while snagging nine rebounds. It is his third straight game scoring 20+. Ghedini was a wizard with the ball, scoring 19 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and dishing out eight assists. Figueroa added 16 points and four steals, and
Marshall Klug dropped twelve points.
The win snaps a nine-game losing streak against Florida Southern.
