Tars Take Fifth at Copperhead Invitational

Rollins added their third Top 5 finish of the fall

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (October 13, 2026) - Men's golf used a strong final round to jump into the top five at the Copperhead Invitational on Tuesday. The annual event, held at Innisbook Golf Club, was hosted by Saint Leo this year.

Clippd Final Standings

The Tars stumbled out of the gate on Monday morning, finishing the opening round at nine-over, putting them in ninth place. Gustav Ordel had a solid first run around the track, finishing with a 71 (+1) to pace the group. Sean Dobson was one shot behind him at 72. Packy Mokris and Clarence Chapman III each posted 73 (+3) to round out the scoring. Mick Herron and Jack Minutoli also shot 73 as well. The weather and pin placements in the first round were giving the Tars fits as they managed only eight total birdies as a team.

Following a quick break, Rollins was back at it on Monday afternoon for round two, and showed improvement at the top of the board. Dobson was dialed in for round two, finishing bogey-free with four birdies for a 66 (-4). Mokris had him beat in birdies with five, but added a couple of bogeys to finish at 67 (-3). Mokris now has at least one round in the 60s in each event this fall. Chapman matched his round one effort with a 73, and Herron added a 75 (+5) to round out the scoring. Ordel shot 76, and Minutoli, playing as an individual, posted a 74. The Tars combined for 18 birdies in round two, and moved up to sixth in the standings.

Tuesday morning was a real beaut, and Rollins took advantage with their best round of the tournament. Mokris and Ordel both finished one-under with a 69 in the final go. Mokris had four birdies and three bogeys, while Ordel had a team-high five birdies with four bogeys. Chapman and Herron each posted a 71 (+1) to make the team score an even 280 for the day. Dobson was two-over at 72, and Minutoli added a 74.

Florida Southern, ranked #2 in the country, claimed the title with an impressive 832 (-8). Nova Southeastern were runner-up at 835 (-5), followed by Lincoln Memorial (843, +3), Barry (844, +4), and the Tars in fifth at 850 (+10).

Nova's Elias Mardeni shot five-under in the final round to finish with a 205 (-5) for the title. Mokris was the top finisher for Rollins, posting a 209 (-1), good for ninth. Dobson shot even par, tying him for eleventh. Ordel was six over for 37th, Chapman was seven over for 43rd, and Herron was nine over for 52nd. Minutoli finished with a 221 (+11), placing him 62nd.

The Tars only have one more tournament slated for the fall. Next week, they will head down I-4 to Championsgate in south Orlando to play in the Citrus Intercollegiate, which begins play on Monday, October 19.
