ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (September 22, 2026) - Men's golf opened their year at the Jay Jennison Cup, hosted by Flagler, on Monday and Tuesday. Winner's of the event last fall, Rollins took fifth in this year's version, which was played at Slammer & Squire at World Golf Village.
The Tars got off to a hot start on Monday morning thanks to junior
Mick Herron. The Minnesota southpaw fired a career-low 65 in his opening round, tallying seven birdies and eleven pars to put him atop the individual leaderboard. Senior
Clarence Chapman III also came out stroking it, posting a 71 highlighted by three birdies and only one bogey.
Sean Dobson and
Nirekh Tejwani rounded out the team score with identical 74s.
The afternoon session saw the Tars post their best team round of the event, finishing nine-under. Chapman and
Gustav Ordel each had a nice round of 69 while connecting on five birdies each. Dobson shot a two-under 70 that included an eagle on the par five 11th. Herron posted his second straight round under par, finishing with a 71 (-1). The impressive team effort vaulted the Tars into third place heading into the final round.
Overnight weather affected the course conditions for Tuesday's final round as Rollins finished one-over as a squad. Herron was back in the driver's seat, completing his third round under par with another 71 that included 15 pars and two birdies. Ordel shot an even 72, while Chapman and Dobson each finished one-over at 73.
Herron was the top finisher for the A-team, shooting a 207 (-9) to capture sixth place. He finished sixth overall with 39 pars, and tied for the fewest bogeys in the event with three. Chapman tied for 21st with his 213 (-3), followed by Dobson in 33rd (217, +1), Ordel in 37th (218, +2), and Tejwani in 57th (226, +10).
In addition to the "official" Rollins entry, head coach
Kyle Frakes entered five additional Tars as independents. Sophomore
Packy Mokris captured the headlines in just his second career collegiate round. He started his first round with two bogeys in the first three holes, but rebounded with four birdies to finish two-under. His second round was even better as Mokris improved by one shot with a three-under 69. Then, on Tuesday, Mokris was dialed in, firing a career-low 66 that included seven birdies and ten pars, putting him six-under for the day and eleven-under for the tournament, good for a third-place finish.
The other Tars who participated were:
Jack Minutoli (214, t-24th),
Jordan Paulshock (220, t-42nd),
Noah Ochab (224, +8), and
Cole Gillis (230, t-66th).
Rollins is headed north to Johnstown, Pennsylvania next weekend to play in the Sunnehanna Collegiate, hosted by Pittsburgh-Johnstown.
