MELBOURNE, Fla. — Rollins Swimming returned to dual-meet action on Wednesday afternoon, taking on Florida Tech on the road to open the 2026 calendar. The Panthers earned the team sweep, winning 150-110 on the women's side and 140.5-121.5 on the men's. Despite the result, the Tars posted several standout performances and collected numerous individual wins across both programs.
The men opened the meet with a big relay victory, as the quartet of
Luke Dinges,
William Slowey,
Valentino Montegrande, and
Wade Chandgie powered to first in the 400 medley relay in 3:18.52. That set the tone for the individual events, with Dinges continuing his strong day in the pool, winning both the 200 fly (1:48.92) and 100 fly (49.37).
The distance group added more points for the Tars as
Carter Kegle took runner-up finishes in both the 1000 (9:48.09) and 500 free (4:42.37), followed closely by
Andrew Boles, who notched third in the 1000 free (10:01.94). Chandgie turned in strong sprint results as well, taking second in both the 200 free (1:42.22) and 100 free (47.18).
In the breaststroke group, Slowey continued to lead the way with a win in the 100 breast (55.54) and the 200 IM (1:51.56).
Neimantas Zonys added top finishes with a win in the 200 breast (2:09.40) alongside a tie for third in the 100 breast (58.33). Matt Mack added another runner-up finish for the Tars, posting a 1:53.54 in the 200 back.
On the women's side,
Alexa Kwarcinski delivered one of the top swims of the afternoon, taking the 200 IM title in 2:08.26 while also winning the 100 breast (1:03.84).
Taiylor Tegler joined her atop the results sheet with a strong second-place swim in both the 100 breast (1:04.11) and the 200 breast (2:22.97). The 200 breast also saw
Brooke Postell, who earned a third-place finish in the race (2:26.49).
The Tars dominated the butterfly events, sweeping the top two spots in the 200 fly as
Julianne Armstrong (2:08.44) and
Melanie Angelov (2:13.04) broke away from the field. Armstrong also added a runner-up finish in the 100 fly (59.80), while Angelov finished third (1:00.76).
Rollins continued to compete well across the middle-distance races, with
Elliot Fox finishing first in the 1000 (11:07.39) and second in the 500 free (5:24.57), followed by teammate
Leah Fonnotto in both races, finishing second in the 1000 and third in the 500.
Gardner Viney added a top-five finish in both the 200 and 100 freestyle races.
The meet closed with both Rollins 400 freestyle relays on the podium. The women's team of Viney,
Dylan Beeson, Armstrong, and
Abby Jessup placed second in 3:41.55, while the men's relay of Dinges,
Cooper Wiese, Chandgie, and Kegle secured runner-up honors in 3:06.37.
Rollins will now turn its attention to more SSC competition this Friday, Jan. 9, for a 1 PM meet with Lynn in Winter Park.
