WINTER PARK, Fla. — Rollins Swimming returned to the Alfond Pool on Friday afternoon, hosting Florida Southern in a Sunshine State Conference dual. The Moccasins claimed both team victories, taking the women's meet 130–74 and the men's meet 113–91.
The meet opened with the 200 medley relays, where the Rollins men set the early pace. The A relay of
Luke Dinges,
William Slowey,
Valentino Montegrande, and
Sebastian Lopez touched first in 1:29.80, while the B relay added points with a third-place finish. On the women's side, Rollins earned a runner-up finish, led by the A relay of
Lizzie Sander,
Taiylor Tegler,
Melanie Angelov, and
Alexa Kwarcinski in 1:47.56.
In the distance events,
Seth Basinger paced the Tars on the men's side with a runner-up finish in the 1000 freestyle (9:35.16).
Rollins found success in the 200 freestyle races.
Carter Kegle led the men with a second-place finish in 1:42.04, while
Wade Chandgie followed in third (1:44.06). On the women's side,
Audrey Perry earned a runner-up finish in 1:57.15, with
Elliot Fox adding additional points in fourth.
The sprint events produced multiple top performances for the Tars.
Abby Jessup highlighted the women's side with a second-place swim in the 50 freestyle (24.91), while
Dylan Beeson followed closely in third (24.98). For the men,
Trey Carter led Rollins in the 50 free with a third-place finish in 21.48, followed by
Cooper Wiese in fifth (21.69).
In the IM events,
Taiylor Tegler delivered one of the top performances of the day, winning the women's 400 IM in 4:31.06. On the men's side,
Sky Murphy and
Evan Larson earned podium finishes in the 400 IM, placing third and fourth, respectively.
The butterfly events were another strong point for Rollins.
Luke Dinges captured first in the men's 200 fly (1:46.49), while
Valentino Montegrande contributed a third-place finish in the same event. On the women's side,
Julianne Armstrong placed second in the 200 fly (2:08.21), with
Lizzie Sander following in fourth.
Rollins continued to score across the freestyle and backstroke events.
Matthew Mack and Nicholas Bonta went 1–2 for the Tars in the men's 200 backstroke, touching in 1:53.26 and 1:53.88, respectively.
Avery Bannerton led the women with a third-place finish in the 200 back.
In the breaststroke races,
William Slowey earned a win in the men's 200 breast (2:04.70), while
Neimantas Zonys added a third-place finish. For the women,
Alexa Kwarcinski led Rollins with a runner-up finish in the 200 breast (2:24.49), followed closely by
Brooke Postell in third.
The meet concluded with the 200 freestyle relays. The Rollins women closed strong as the B relay of Beeson, Angelov, Perry, and Tegler earned the win in 1:23.81. On the men's side, the Rollins A relay of Dinges,
Trey Carter, Chandgie, and Slowey finished second in 1:22.21.
Rollins will host the New College of Florida for their final regular-season meet of the season on Saturday, January 24, at 12 PM for Senior Day.
