Winter Park, Fla. – Rollins officially opened the 2025–26 season on Friday with a women's dual meet at Alfond Pool. Despite falling 207–55 overall, the Tars picked up several standout swims throughout the afternoon.
The team of Holly Hirsch, Taiylor Tegler, Melanie Angelov, and Julianne Armstrong earned the first points of the day for Rollins with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:50.60). Another quartet of Alexa Kwarcinski, Abby Jessup, Armstrong, and Hirsch added a second relay podium, going 1:41.09 for third in the 200 free relay.
Tegler led the way individually with a runner-up swim in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.52) before claiming the Tars' lone event win of the day in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.00). Kwarcinski joined her with a third-place finish in the same event (2:27.35). Armstrong highlighted the butterfly races with a second-place result in the 200 fly (2:09.18), while Angelov added a fourth-place finish (2:13.51). Hirsch notched another top-three showing in the 200 backstroke (2:12.45), and Jessup touched second in the 100 free (55.88).
Rollins also produced strong efforts in the distance events. Katie Canty (11:28.01) and Leah Fonnotto (11:29.63) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1000 free, while Elliot Fox (5:33.68) and Fonnotto (5:38.04) both finished in the top five of the 500 free.
The Tars return to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 4, hosting Florida Tech in a 12 p.m. dual meet at Alfond Pool.
