New London, Conn. – Rollins wrapped up competition at the Stu Nelson Trophy on Sunday. The day began much like Saturday, with a light northerly breeze on the Thames. After a few morning protests were heard, the fleet headed out, hoping to complete an early set, but the wind faded before a race could begin. Following a short onshore postponement, the breeze filled from the south around 12:30 p.m., settling at 4–8 knots and allowing three races per division to be completed.
The Tars finished sixth overall with 179 total points, adding six more top-10 results on the final day. In A Division, skipper Shay Bridge and crew Maggie Burnham accounted for two of those finishes. In B Division, skipper Annie Samis and crew Jane McKenzie secured a seventh-place finish in race six. C Division skipper Adelaide Matzky paired with Mollie Wood for races five and six, highlighted by a runner-up finish in race six — the Tars' best result of the event — before teaming with Soleil Aurignac in race seven for a seventh-place finish.
Rollins returns to the water next weekend, Oct. 11-12, in Cambridge, MA, for the Women's ACC Round 2.
