JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Tars competed at the Dick Allsop Trophy this weekend, racing FJs in the fundamental regatta hosted by Jacksonville University.
Rollins finished second and seventh in the two-division scoring format. The Blue team earned the runner-up finish with 30 points, tallying nine in A Division and 21 in B, while the Gold team finished seventh with 57 points, posting 32 in A and 25 in B.
Racing got underway around 9:40 a.m. Saturday in a steady 8–10 knot south-southeasterly breeze, with a strong current running up the course. Both the breeze and current eased throughout the morning before the current shifted following the third B Division race, with winds settling around 6–8 knots. Four races were completed in each division before approaching storms forced a postponement around 2:20 p.m. With conditions showing little sign of clearing, racing was called for the day, bringing the regatta to a close after eight total races.
