Winter Park, Fla. – Rollins faced Florida Tech in a home dual meet today to open up SSC competition. The Panthers took the overall meet by scores of 149–112 on the women's side and 156–106 on the men's side.
Rollins opened the meet with a strong showing in the 200 medley relay, as both the men's and women's teams finished second in competitive races. The women's relay of Holly Hirsch, Taiylor Tegler, Melanie Angelov, and Gardner Viney touched just behind FIT in 1:49.25, while the men's team of Luke Dinges, William Slowey, Valentino Montedrande, and Trey Carter finished narrowly behind at 1:32.38.
In distance events, Elliot Fox placed second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:01.13, closely followed by Leah Fonnotto in third (11:24.99). On the men's side, Carter Kegle claimed the victory in the 1000 free, clocking 9:59.35, with teammate Andrew Boles (10:18.16) also finishing in the top four.
Rollins earned additional points in the 200 freestyle, led by Julianne Armstrong, who won the event in 1:57.43, while Seth Basinger led the men with a runner-up finish in 1:43.02. Tegler continued her strong start to the season, winning both the 100 breaststroke (1:05.98) and 200 breaststroke (2:26.63), while Slowey matched that on the men's side, taking first in the 100 breaststroke (57.07) and 200 IM (1:56.13).
Additional top finishes came from Luke Dinges, who swept the butterfly events with wins in both the 100 fly (50.19) and 200 fly (1:50.58), and Alexa Kwarcinski, who captured the 200 IM (2:11.95). Angelov and Lizzie Sander went 1–2 in the 200 fly, while Viney and Abby Jessup each earned top-three placements in the sprint freestyle events.
The Tars will return to the pool on Friday, October 17, for a 3 PM dual meet against Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale.
