LAKELAND, Fla. (April 2, 2024) - Women's golf finished outside the top five for the first time this spring, claiming a tenth-place finish at the Lady Moc Classic 2.0 at The Club at Eaglebrooke in Lakeland.
The Tars shot 300-296-306 = 902, with the first two rounds being played Monday, and the final round on Tuesday. Dallas Baptist took home first-place with an 861, followed by Flagler (876) in second and a tie for third between Nova Southeastern and Saint Leo (885).
Carla Alvarez had the best individual finish for the Tars with a 72-75-72=219 (+3). She had the second-most pars for the tournament with 40.
Elizabeth Kondal finished tied for 32nd with a 227. She had the only eagle of the event for Rollins.
Megan Docherty and
Olivia Tamburlini each shot 231, and
Berni Villalba ended with a 233.
Alvarez led the team with a 72 in round one that included three birdies. Docherty, Villalba, and Tamburlini each added a 76 to round out the team scoring. This was the first round of the year that Kondal (77) was not included in the team score.
Kondal bounced back in the afternoon session though, posting a 72 of her own. Along with two birdies, she also holed out for eagle in number seven. Villalba was solid with a 73, Alvarez posted a 75, and Tamburlini was good for 76. After day one, Rollins was tied for ninth place in the team standings.
Round three saw Alvarez bring her score back down to par at 72, but she was alone in doing so. Docherty was next up with a 77, Kondal carded a 78, and Tamburlini handed in a 79.
This was the final event for Rollins before the Sunshine State Conference Tournament. The SSC will be held at The Bayou Club in Largo, Florida on April 14-16.
